Riding for the disabled and special needs riders

We believe that all riders, no matter what their age, experience or ability should receive the same high standards of tuition  and this applies equally to those with special needs. We focus on what people CAN do, rather than what they can’t.

For people with special needs, we offer two kinds of service:

Riding for the Disabled

We are proud to be home to the Staffordshire Moorlands RDA Group.

This caring and dedicated group  of people hire our horses and facilities on a Tuesday and Thursday morning during school term-times and has specialist trained instructors and volunteers who give the best quality of tuition to riders who need high levels of support.

Lessons are in groups of up to 5 riders and are subsidised with the focus on individual progression in balance, coordination and mobility. All the horses are safe and sensible and happy to look after people with challenges.

One-to-one lessons

The second service we offer is for people who are cognitive and have reasonable balance and mobility, but may have other challenges.  For them, we are happy to offer our usual one-to-one lessons. We offer exactly the same commitment and training as to our able-bodied riders and have great success in progressing those with challenges, so that they become fully proficient and confident riders.
