our approach

Our training ethos at Courses for Horses is to treat everyone as an individual and this is no different for our BHS training. We don't teach in large groups - although we do offer group sessions if needed for assessment preparation.

Like always, our training is a mix of development, education and having a laugh! That said, we are a BHS Assessment and Training Centre, so you can expect the quality of training to be very high. As one candidate said to us after her successful Stage 2 assessment: "If you want to pass, train here!"

Lessons can be arranged on a one to one basis for whatever level you are wanting to train at.

We offer discounts for exam training off our normal prices (see the price list for more details).

STAGE 1

We offer either the BHS Challenge Awards or Progressive Riding Tests.  Either of these give direct entry in to Stage 2.

STAGE 2

We offer care, lunging , riding and coaching, all on a one to basis.  We also hold regular Stage 2 assessments, including the Stage 2 Coach

STAGE 3

We offer care, lunging , riding and coaching, all on a one to basis.  We only hold Stage 3 Care and Lunge assessments, although with sufficient numbers, we can also offer Stage 3 Dressage riding.  Despite the fact that we do not have a cross country course, we can help you with the showjumping and specialise in confidence building.

STAGE 4

We offer care, lunging and dressage riding, again on a one to one basis.  These sessions are with Mary Stitson, our chief instructor.  Whilst we do not hold Stage 4 assessments, Mary has a wealth of experience training at the level with notable successes.
